Description

My name is Norman and I am an experienced home carer with a focus on providing hourly care. I have over 30 years experience in caring for individuals with a variety of conditions such as mild cognitive impairment, limited mobility, Parkinson's disease, anxiety, and depression.

I have a car and am willing to travel reasonable distances. My skill set includes bathing, toileting, assistance with dressing, catheter care, and companionship. I strongly believe that companionship is just as important as physical care for promoting overall well-being.

Outside of my caregiving role, I enjoy taking walks, decorating, gardening, using computers and DIY projects. These hobbies not only keep me active but also allow me to unwind. In terms of pets, my partner and I have 4 dogs. I have no preferences and am comfortable caring for cats and dogs.

As a carer, my attributes of being caring, friendly, and helpful have helped me establish strong connections with the individuals I have cared for. I find great satisfaction in supporting others to lead independent lives.

If you are looking for a dedicated and compassionate carer who will go above and beyond to ensure the well-being of your loved ones, I am confident that I am the carer you are looking for. I look forward to the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of those in need.

I have worked as an Adult nurse in hospitals in Surrey and Hampshire and later worked as care manager for Surrey social services. Alongside these roles I worked as home carer for Surrey County Council. Between 2008 and 2020 I cared for my mother at home until she died. Lately, I have been working in the community for homecare agencies and for Lymington Hospital, predominantly supporting patients recovering from stroke and falls.

I suffered a stroke in May 2023. Norman was one of my primary carers at Lymington hospital. His face was one of the first I saw on admission to the Deerleap ward. Over the next 6 months I got to know Norman very well and came to rely on him for my personal care when he was on shift. I found Norman to be punctual, honest and diligent. He treated me with respect and humility. Because of my stroke, Norman had to perform personal hygiene tasks for me and these were carried out with the greatest respect for my dignity. I came to know Norman very well over the 6 months I spent recovering from my stroke and I cannot recommend him highly enough to any employer.
